The weather, 65 at the start, rising to almost 80 and sunny in the afternoon, was a tad warm for the run portion of our 10/4/25 Adventure Race. 35 people (22 individuals and teams) kayaked, mountain biked, and ran, chasing 64 streamers, or rather 63 as the last optional streamer on the kayak leg was missing, which wasted 10-15 minutes for our top 3 boats. The Route Doubters, an elite team of Thomas Goffird and Hude Harper, were the only ones that “cleared the course”. Larry Costantino, a 69-year-old world class triathlete was the official winner finding 54 and Jeremy Colgan, who urged us to host this event and provided input on the format and logistics, was next with 52.
Everyone enjoyed the event. Some were happy with their performance and some were not. But they all agreed it was an Adventure!
Thanks to all who made this possible: Kimberly & Glen for designing the courses, Mark for updating the NRSP map, Nadia, Linda, Bette, and Mindy for refreshments, registration and timing, Linda, from Nissequogue River Canoe & Kayak rentals, whose team willingly supported us, and NYS Parks department for clearing an overgrown trail.
And congratulations to everyone on making Long Island history!
