What is Orienteering? It's like a treasure hunt in the woods using a map to find controls (box shaped flags hanging from trees). We usually have 3 courses: White/easy ~2 miles all controls on trails, Yellow/medium ~3 miles controls can be seen from trail, and Orange-Blue/hard ~4-5 miles with all controls hidden in the woods. You can compete as an individual or a team (usually 2-3 people). For more info, see our Fact Sheet or email Glen (firstname.lastname@example.org).

Awards (LIOC Pint Glass or T-shirt) presented to top 3 fall season finishers
September 18, 2022
Great weather for our first meet of the fall season.
So far, here are the top 3 in the running for a Pint Glass or T-shirt for the fall season awards...
Elite Orienteer Jeremy Colgan (35 points) beat Misha Leder (16 points) by 5 minutes on a tough Green course and then went out and won the Orange course.
12 year old Mark Primak did very well placing 1st on the White and then 2nd on the Yellow earning 13 points, which puts him 3rd.

CAUMSETT STATE PARK
Margaret Tagger was the fastest on the White course. Nina Rozenberg won the 1-hour Score-O. Andrew Burford & Anjolie Nagawalla AKA Butter & Parm, a pair of newbies from SUNY Stony Brook, won the 2-hour Score-O.
The 3-hour Score-O was really close and we had to come to a winner using some creative thinking. Both Stephan & Jeremy found all 36 controls and both went over the time limit by 1 minute.

We had good weather (mostly sunny, about 70 degrees, and muggy) for our second meet of the spring season. Major Moore brought 63 JROTC cadets from Freeport. That plus 83 other participants made this one of our most highly attended meets.

Great weather (sunny, about 60 degrees, little wind) for our first meet of the spring season. Alex designed 4 nice courses. Congrats to Chris for a fast time on the Green course (so fast, I couldn't get a picture) and Mark Van Loon on the Orange course.
